The Karma Yoga Project, I am the Center, and the Vegetarian Society of Phoenix proudly present Yoga, Meditation, and Mantra: A Path to Discovering Your Authentic Self.

Join Veg meetup member Donna Helm-Yost, a licensed psychologist and registered yoga instructor for an energizing, yet grounding yoga practice (suitable for all levels of practitioners) - and create some good karma in the process!

Have you ever wondered who you really are, why you're here, and how you can make your life more fulfilling? Discover how the ancient path of yoga can guide you on your journey to self-discovery and true happiness. In this workshop you'll learn how to use yoga, meditation, and mantra to discover your authentic self. Leave with your own personal mantra & new insights for creating a fulfilling life.

Donations for this event will help to fund a medical trip with Medical Mercy to Ethiopia. Dr. Beyda, a pediatric critical care specialist working at Phoenix Children's Hospital, recently went to Ethiopia on an assessment trip and found that there is a large population of children with malaria, TB, malnutrition, chronic respiratory tract infections, and parasitic disease that will require treatment during our trip in July. These children live in an environment with no water, no sanitation, and no toilets. They also are exposed to communicable diseases and live in small places with as many as ten people sharing one room. There will be a lot of work to do there in a very short period of time. Donna will assist the medical team as needed. She will also have time to visit and provide support to the Kidane Mehret Children's Home and Beyond the Orphanage program while there.

ABOUT THE KARMA YOGA PROJECT: Every person on the planet has the power to make our world a better place and the Karma Yoga Project supports organizations that work diligently to protect animals, empower people, and heal the planet. One hundred percent of the money that is donated for Donna's two hour donation-only workshops will go to support these causes, along with ten percent of DVD and t-shirt sales. Please visit http://www.practiceki.... for more information.

SUGGESTED DONATION FOR THIS EVENT IS $20.

ABOUT DONNA: Donna began practicing yoga and exploring Eastern Philosophy at the age of 12. She challenges her students to find their personal edge between effort and surrender through a powerful, upbeat flow and a grounding, meditative yin class. Donna, a licensed psychologist, believes that yoga provides a path to self-discovery?creating space for peace, happiness, and compassion.

AFTER THE CHARITY YOGA EVENT: many of us will get together to dine at The Center Bistro downstairs.

ABOUT THE CENTER BISTRO: Head chef Damon Brasch (of Green Vegan Restaurant fame) touts more amazing creations at The Center Bistro, an organic, Vegan-friendly restaurant, just off Mill Ave in Dowtown Tempe. Featuring fine coffee, tea, wine, smoothies, appetizers, sandwiches/wraps, and salads, you're sure to find something delectable and appetizing. If you haven't yet checked this place out, this is the perfect time!

HOW TO FIND THE CENTER: You will not see The Center driving by in your car; as it is located in a courtyard between 6th and 7th Streets in downtown Tempe, approximately two blocks north of University Drive and one block east of Mill Ave. Once you spot a white church with a tall steeple, you'll see the building The Center is in located across (west of) a white church. (See photos at the link below of the exterior of the building.) Park nearby and walk to the location. Then look for the very unique sign on the front door, an 8 1/2" x 11" white sheet of paper. NOTE: The yoga event is upstairs in the yoga studio, and yoga mat rental (if you don't bring your own) is $2.
